On June 26, Sustainability Day was held for the first time at our Abensberg site—a full-day event that gave employees insights into key sustainability issues, highlighted current requirements, and promoted active dialogue.
The idea behind it: to make the ecological, legal, and business aspects of sustainability tangible – and to show that sustainability is not the responsibility of individual departments, but rather a cross-functional responsibility that affects us all.
The lecture program was as diverse as it was practical – with contributions from internal and external speakers:
- Sustainability as a corporate challenge: An overview of the current requirements and activities at Kroschu.
- Digital sustainability through data minimization: An interactive contribution from our trainees and OHA! sustainability heroes in cooperation with the OHA! initiative.
- Green design – sustainability in the wiring harness: Insights into sustainable product development at Kroschu.
- Nature conservation in the region: A passionate presentation by the Abensberg branch of BUND Naturschutz (Friends of the Earth Germany).
- Sustainability at the roasting stand: Dr. Christian Obermeier from the coffee roastery Ohneis & Obermeier reported on ecological and social aspects of coffee cultivation in Peru.
Accompanying the lecture program, fair trade coffee from the Ohneis & Obermeier roastery was served in the cafeteria. Employees were also able to purchase regional and seasonal products directly from the Kügel asparagus farm—sustainability to go.
The event was not only informative, but also a strong sign of our shared commitment to environmental and resource protection. The response from participants was overwhelmingly positive – many took away new ideas and were impressed by the commitment that went into organizing and implementing the day.
A big thank you goes to all those involved, the speakers, and especially the organizing team, who made this day possible with their passion and dedication. We look forward to continuing to promote sustainability together – because sustainability starts with us.
