Abensberg Fire Department Drill

Abensberg Fire Department Drill

Two realistic scenarios, a professional response team, and valuable insights for everyone involved: The Abensberg Fire Department once again conducted a comprehensive drill at our facility.

On March 4th at 7:10 p.m., it was time again: The Abensberg Fire Department conducted a large-scale emergency drill at our plant. Such realistic training exercises are crucial to ensuring that emergency responders can act quickly, safely, and with confidence in the event of an actual emergency. We are pleased to support this important work by regularly making our premises available for various training scenarios.
Two realistic situations were prepared for the drill, requiring the firefighters to demonstrate both technical expertise and strong teamwork:

Scenario 1: Serious workplace accident involving a forklift
A logistics employee had lifted a waste compactor container with a forklift while a service technician was working underneath it. When the forklift gave way, the person became trapped by both legs. The fire department freed the trapped training dummy after about 15 minutes and handed them over to the emergency medical services - a challenging technical rescue that required precision and speed.

Scenario 2: Garage fire with a trapped person
In a garage, a simulated fire involving a lawn mower caused heavy smoke. An electrician who was servicing the garage door was trapped inside.
Since the door was properly secured, the emergency responders had to work their way under the roll-up door using hoses while wearing breathing apparatus. Visibility inside was extremely limited due to the heavy smoke.  Despite these conditions, the trapped “person” was quickly located and brought to safety. The fire was also brought under control swiftly.

A Major Boost for Safety and Collaboration
The fire department handled both scenarios quickly, safely, and with the utmost professionalism.
For emergency responders, such drills provide valuable local knowledge that can be crucial in a real emergency. At the same time, we also benefit, as we know that in an emergency, our plant is in the hands of a highly trained and well-prepared fire department.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all active members of the Abensberg Fire Department for their tireless dedication, professionalism, and commitment - you make an indispensable contribution to our safety every day.
We are already looking forward to the next exciting and informative drills at our plant.
